The Regimental Archive

The Museum holds about fifty old books and ledgers which form the Archive of the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia) and its Militia predecessors. There are Enlistment Registers, Muster Rolls, Monthly Returns, Regimental Orders, and Adjutant's Letters etc. One book goes back to 1786. But cover is patchy, and there are serious gaps.

The Archive has now been catalogued professionally and the catalogue, and information about the Archive, have been published on a website hosted on the massive Archives Hub. This offers searchable databases of former members of the Regiment, and also of the many records of the Regiment which have been discovered elsewhere.
