"Militiamen and Sappers"
Dr. Graham Watson, a lecturer in history at Cardiff University, was commisioned to write this history of the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers to mark the centenary of the “Double Royal” title in 1996. With access to the records of the Regiment he has produced a scholarly and readable account which relates the story from Tudor times, and sets it in the context of the evolution of the Army and Monmouthshire.
HRH The Duke of Gloucester, as Honorary Colonel, has contributed a foreword.

The format is 25 x 18 cms, and it weighs 840 grams. ISBN 0952810204.

There were two earlier regimental histories which were very detailed, but less readable, and are now out of print. The first was the Royal Monmouthshire Militia by B E Sargeaunt (1910) which covered the period from 1660 to 1908. The second was The Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia) 1908 - 1967 by G Low and H M Everett (1969).
